The McDonnell Douglas F/A-18 Hornet is an all-weather fighter jet, designed to attack both ground and aerial targets. The Hornet is used by the Swiss Air Forces since January 1996. The F/A-18 is a twin engine, mid-wing, multi-mission tactical aircraft. The Hornet is capable of extremely tight turns over a large range of speeds. The Swiss Air Force purchased 26 C models and eight D models. In October 2008 the Swiss Hornet fleet reached the 50000 flight hour milestone.

@neofalcon79 – Thank you for your comment! YES a Lionel Charlet Movie – cut down to 6.5 minutes for all my youtube-freinds. Hope you still like’it…!?
@blackcrow252 In the mid 1990’s Mcdonnell bet the company on the A.T.F. fighter compettition & lost to Lockheed’s YF-22. Bankrupt Mcdonnell was bought by their rival in the airliner business Boeing.
@blackcrow252 Origanally it was designed by Northrup as the P-530. a replacement for the F-5 Tiger II, Then it was designated YF-17 for the U.S. Air Force lightweight fighter competition where it lost out to General Dynamics YF-16. The U.S. Navy was interested in the YF-17 however as they didn’t want the F-16. as Northrup had no experience designing carrier aircraft they teamed up with McDonnell/Douglas to redesign the YF-17 into the F/A-18.
wow, awesome video…respect!
Fantastisches Video! Wahrscheinlich eins der besten auf Youtube.

Very nice video! I remember this swiss/finnish F-18 thing a little bit. Wasn’t it so that Finnish and Swiss air forces were looking together at the F-18 in the early 90’s.
